runs small
I'm glad that I sized up one size after reading the reviews. I wear XS or 00 for my Madewell coats, but I went with a Small. It fits like an XS. I could size up to a Medium, but the collars are a little bulky, so I think one size up was good enough. The sherpa texture is almost like a matte sherpa. It's not your normal sherpa blanket; it's more on the heavier/thicker side. Honestly, I prefer this matte sherpa texture; it feels vintage and high quality. I got the Dark Nightfall color, and it looks like a darker blue-black in person. In my opinion, the coat length is short. I'm 5'3, and it's hitting midthigh. Would I pay full-price for it? Maybe.

Fun and Warm
I have been pleasantly surprised how much I love this coat after reading mixed reviews. I’m 5’7 150 lbs and the medium fits great - it’s oversized and definitely a bit bulky but still really fun to wear. It’s also SO warm- I’m in Chicago and have worn a few nights walking to dinner with temps in the teens and have been completely warm (and I’m always cold!). Despite being happy with my purchase, I will say I would have been disappointed with the quality if I had paid full price. The material/softness are fine but I find the snaps look pretty cheap and come undone easily. It’s a fun coat to grab on sale but would have expected a few nicer details for the original price.

Fabulously Good Looking
Glad I found this site at this time. The price was just right. Many Color choices. I needed a new heavier coat for the winters in Kentucky. I am a senior and like to look stylish. True fit for my size - large and very warm.

Winter Green elegant fluff
The coat was a pleasant surprise as it is warmer than I anticipated. The color is beautiful and feel that it is very versatile. I have received many compliments on it as well.

WARM
A “TEDDY” is definitely, in my opinion an asset to my wardrobe, and in my opinion not a trend! MADEWELL hit the target with this one! I normally wear XL, purchased XXL, for added room with heavier sweaters, it’s perfect! And, not too big, bulky with sweaters or without! This is a GREAT go to coat!

Comfy and stylish
Its very thick and cozy. Feels like a vintage/well-loved teddy bear rather than polar-fleece (but in a good way.) Different but nice. The collar is not scratchy like some other coats can be. Website say machine wash but garment says dry clean.

Good on sale
It's a coat in one of my favorite colors, in my size, and was on sale. I don't think I would've bought it on full price, because for its original price it felt cheap. Features-wise also pretty basic. But it does feel warm and cozy. Not bad but not my favorite.

Bulky, small, sheddy, stylish, warm
If you have the opportunity to try it on in store I’d recommend that, I wish I had. I’m 5’5” 155lbs and based on the reviews I got a medium. If I could exchange it I’d get a large. The arms are a little short which is kind of odd. The buttons are worthless, they do not stay shut. It’s super bulky and not figure flattering (which I’m digging style wise ) but it’s still kind of small somehow? I wouldn’t call the fluff soft but it’s not like you’re supposed to fall asleep in it, it’s a coat. It’s warm! It also sheds! I hope they bring this back next year with some improvements and fun colors but I’m not sure I’d recommend buying this version unless you’re shorter or have short arms (or maybe size up two sizes?)

Bulky yet small all at once
Ordered this on a whim and it's got some pros and cons. On the one hand the smoky spruce color is a really lovely hunter green tone. I like the hidden buttons as well and it's got a cool retro rock star vibe to it. But it definitely fits small and short - I have about 3" of space between where the jacket sleeves end and my hand begins which is nearly pointless if you're wearing this in winter weather. The fabric is also bulkier than I expected. It honestly feels like the fabric you'd expect on an old school teddybear - sort of short fibers and brushed. I don't know that I would say that it's "not soft" but it's not what I would call "plush". While I love the eco spirit of this piece, I found it uncomfortable to wear; even if I sized up I think it would still feel too bulky based on the thickness of the material. If you want a really oversized rocker look then definitely go up one, or possibly two sizes from normal.

Material seems cheap
Usually a xs/s in Madewell, this jacket ran small and the sleeves were far too short. I’m 5’ 6”, 112lbs for reference. The material seems cheap and like stated in the other review, seems “fried,” and as if it were washed and worn for a couple of years. The color is beautiful and I do like the style, wish it would have been a better material.
