I normally HATE jean shorts, but with the heat this summer I had to break down and get a pair. This cut is literally perfect. They are soooo flattering and completely hide the tummy. Great length. Great wash. I am beyond happy I found these!! They run a little big. I am normally a 32-33 and the 31 fit perfectly. Highly recommend.

love these shorts, but size down! I am typically a 4/27, usually size up for relaxed-look for shorts. I followed recommendations to size down--glad i did. i bought a 25 and still had that relaxed look, maybe slightly too big, but hoping they will shrink a bit in the wash. still love the shorts though--nice denim, perfect wash. the rise is the back is perfect for the booty!

I’m usually a size 34 in Madewell but based on reviews I went ahead and purchased these. They are perfect and even an inch bigger than last years sz 34 relaxed denim shorts before they decided to fix what wasn’t broken and add the plus line. These fit perfect. They will stretch even though there’s no spandex and are 100% cotton. I’m 5’6” and 225lbs for reference and usually a 16/18. I wish Madewell would have more inventory of the size 33’s and curvy relaxed shorts!!! Buy these!

I love these shorts!! Sizing is tricky though! I thought all curvy shorts would fit the same - but the “relaxed” ones are MUCH looser. My curvy madewell shorts from last year are a 30 and fit a little too tight - I ordered these relaxed curvy in 31 and 32 and they wouldn’t even stay up! I ended up keeping a size 30 but even they are loose and casual look, I fit into the 29 as well. Long story short, size down! Once you find the right size they look fabulous

Let me start by saying this - getting the right size for me has been the craziest experience. I started with ordering a 27 (my usual size is 28), but eventually landed on a 24, and it's still a little big for me! I have no idea what size guidelines these shorts follow but since I'm tired of ordering and returning, I'm just keeping the 24 and hoping that the denim magically shrinks. Other than the sizing debacle, they are really comfortable with a LOT of leg room (maybe a little too much, haha!)

I love these shorts! Despite the reviews that they run huge, I ordered in my normal Madewell size (31) because I like Jean shorts extra loose and usually size up when I buy them. They are definitely roomy in the waist and thighs, but not so much that they look sloppy or fall down. The fabric also is not stretchy, so I’m happy I went with my normal size. I was surprised that they have a button fly (even though it says it in the description), but not a deal breaker. Can’t wait to wear these!

First time ordering denim from Madewell. Ordered these in the size I wear in Gap shorts, a 33/16. They wouldn’t even stay up on my hips, which has NEVER been an issue for me. I’m pear-shaped with a smaller waist, super wide hips and a butt. Returned the 33s and ordered the same shorts in a size 30 after reading the other reviews, and they fit perfectly. I can wear them high on my waist or scooch them down a little on my hips, but they look better high-waisted. They are super flattering due to the wide leg and “real jeans” structure. Remind me of jeans from the 90s.
