We’ve long been admirers of (and partners with) the jean geniuses at Saitex—known as “the cleanest denim factory in the world.” So when they expanded to Los Angeles, a destination for premium denim and home to some of the most talented artisans in the biz, it was a natural decision for us to produce more perfect pairs at their new location. Saitex believes that business can be a force for good by making truly sustainable, positive changes. They put the planet and its people at the forefront of everything they do and partner with other businesses that feel the same. Let’s get a peek inside the new LA factory and dig deeper into their earth-friendly processes.

UNCHARTED WATERS

Thanks to smarter manufacturing, 1.5 liters of water goes into creating a pair of jeans at Saitex, compared to 80 liters at more traditional facilities. Not only does that benefit our planet, but it cuts down costs significantly.

WASTE NOT

Wastewater treatment plants create a toxic byproduct, aptly called “sludge.” Saitex takes said sludge and ships it to a nearby brick factory where it’s mixed with concrete. Voila, toxins won’t leech into the environment, and the bricks are used to build affordable homes for people in need. Talk about a win-win.

POSITIVE ENERGY

By taking steps like air-drying jeans, recapturing heat, using natural lighting and investing in solar power, Saitex saves 13 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year.

PEOPLE SKILLS

Saitex is proud to have created over 200 jobs in the United States with their new factory, and makes intersectionality a priority when hiring new associates
