Ahh, the holidays—a time of endless sweets, snowy scenes
and…overwhelming calendars. So you might have RSVP’d “yes” to every invite
that’s come your way, but don’t fret. You focus on spending quality time
with your people, and we’ll take the stress out of dressing for it with a
few fun suggestions.
HOW YOU FEEL COMES FIRST
If teetering heels, complicated dresses and bobby pin–laden updos just
aren’t your thing, you certainly don’t have to start wearing them now. Go
for a tee and jeans, add something fluffy
(i.e., a big, beautiful jacket) and let your hair down.
There’s no shame in being comfy-cozy or opting to go more
over-the-top.
LET ONE COLOR BE YOUR GUIDE
It never fails, friends. Monochrome dressing makes everything easier. Choose
a hue (can’t go wrong with black) and wear it from top to bottom. It’ll save
you time, always looks cool, and it also lets you experiment with
texture—hello, velvet blazer.
IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
We’ve all got that one thing in our closet. We don’t pull it out
often, not because we don’t love it, but because maybe it’s a little out of
our everyday outfit comfort zone. Consider this permission to wear that
“thing” (perhaps it’s a shiny, celestial sneaker?) to
whatever’s next on your itinerary.
ACCESSORIES ARE EVERYTHING
Whether your preferred outfit enhancer is a shiny statement
earring or just a superglowy
complexion (thanks, highlighter), don’t forget
to add something special that makes you feel extra festive—then let
the merrymaking begin.
