Bought this on final sale and am super pleased with it. Looks great on, and I didn't have any of the fit problems that others mentioned in their reviews. For reference, I bought this in XXS and am about 5'2'' 105 lbs. The material is a bit stretchy and the fit is flattering. Hits just above the knees and will be good for work as well as dressier occasions.

I am 5'2" and normally wear a small or extra small at madewell but when I was shopping at my local store, they only had mediums and extra smalls left. I could tell just by looking at the extra small that it wouldn't fit me and so I tried the medium. It fit great! The sales associate said she also sized up in the dress. As far as length, it hits me at the knees. The best part is, it's machine washable!

I tried this on at my local Madewell store today. I love fit and flare dresses made of jersey material since I have younger kids. I am a persona trainer and do not get to wear dresses as much as I would like but this one had to come home with me. I bought the black one too. I am 5'2" and it fit me fine. I agree that petites would be nice but I am long waisted and most regular size clothes fit me well. Length can be too long but that is an easy fix. The length was perfect for me, just at knee level. Can't go wrong with this dress.

Tried this on a whim and because it was 30% off in the store. Way more flattering than I expected, and also comfortable. I'm 5'7 and the length was perfect for work and otherwise. Does not look basic on!

This is a nice dress with a good dose of versatility. It will work well either dressed up or down. I'm 5'4, 116 and I bought the XS. It fit perfectly with no issues regarding seam placement. The fit is close without being too snug and it is perfect for daytime. It is a substantial weight but I think that it will be light enough to be a workhorse piece from spring and into early summer.

the dress has a very flattering cut for all body types. my only issue is that the zipper on the back has a tendency to bunch and stand up away from your body when you move. i have worn this dress by itself, as well as layered with a scarf and cardigan and always receive wonderful little compliments on it.

I originally bought the black version of the gallerist dress and loved it so I splurged on the stripe version. I am usually 2/small in most Madewell clothes and I would say that this dress fits tts. It's fitted on me but not too tight. The only complaint that I have is that because the waist-line is around the low waist--it accentuates your tummy, which is a good thing if you have a flat belly and bad if you have a normal belly. The first time I worn it, the tummy bulged out because the fabric is straight and with kind of rib texture but not baby-doll type, and I was afraid that people might think I am pregnant or something....Anyway, that's the only complaint and I still got the other color.

I don't have a Madewell in my city so I had to take a guess at sizing to buy online. I'm usually a S or XS in Madewell because most of the clothes are oversized or slightly baggy so 'sizing down' is my normal habit, but the 'waisted' description made me pause. It is definitely true to size according to the size chart, so I gambled on a size M and it fits perfectly (I have a 28 waist, small bust). This is probably the kind of dress you could pick up at a big name mall store but what sets it apart is the quality of the fabric. It's thick, stretchy, forgiving. I haven't worn this dress enough to comment on pilling or if it retains it shape after a wear, however.

i love the fit of this dress, but the material is uncomfortable, esp if you plan to wear in the summer. too heavy and rather scratchy. this is for the black dress. maybe the striped one is a different / better fabric. wish i could return it. bummer.
