May 16, 2023Love it but the buttons are meh
The buttons do gape slightly depending on how I'm sitting or standing, but it isn't very revealing so I'm not bothered by it. Of course, I would have preferred if the buttons didn't do that. But with that being said, I am really glad I ordered the Small and not the XS. I have found similar tops for less at cheaper stores, but this top is nicer in quality. The material is soft and light, but not so thin that my entire bra is outlined. I also like the fit of the sleeves because they don't cut into my arms/shoulders. I like the color a lot too because it is versatile enough to go with my black linen pants and grey denim, which I find harder to style. Looks great with light denim of course too.

All of the other reviewers are correct; this shirt does run small, and you should definitely size up. (I’m a 34C, almost always a small at Madewell, and got a medium.) Even still, the buttons gape, and it’s because of the way the shirt is constructed. However, if you’re handy with a needle and thread, a quick stitch down the front of this shirt (between the buttons) totally solved this problem for me. I’d highly recommend this shirt IF you don’t mind making this quick little fix yourself. Otherwise, be prepared for the peekaboo effect ;)

I do really like this shirt. The fabric is soft and stretchy, and the crop fit is fun with high waisted jeans. That being said, I do think it runs pretty small, especially for Madewell. I am 5'7" with a 34 A bust and went up to medium from my usual Madewell small, and the shirt is still pretty snug causing the buttons to sort of bulge open when I move certain ways. I've decided to just embrace it, but it's something to keep in mind if you don't want that look.

as other reviewers mentioned, there was pulling on the buttons. i tried sizing up to see if that would make a difference but it did not. So I returned the top.

I ordered my normal madewell size and the chest is completely open between the buttons. It was not made for someone with boobs, also the top is more cropped than it appears on the model and honestly looks like it was made for a child. I love the idea but did not work for me at all.
