I love these shorts! I always dread shopping for denim shorts because I never seem to like the fit so I was a little skeptical when I ordered these but I was so pleasantly surprised! I normally find that denim shorts are super tight in the thigh but these actually have a little bit of room around the leg which is what I've been looking for. They're slightly big in the waist but I'm willing to let it go because I like the fit around the leg. The style of these is also really cute. They're slightly distressed but not so much that it's overdone. For reference, I'm 5'6" and weigh 135 and I ordered a size 28.

From the photos I thought these would be more of a relaxed fit. I got 2 different sizes and returned both. the 26 fit the waist but was tight on the legs and the 27 was too big in the waist and fit the legs Nice enough shorts but not what I was looking for

I have the perfect vintage jeans in size 28 and I love them, so I had high hopes for these shorts. Walking any distance in these shorts is painful, they ride up terribly. They felt decently loose in the thighs when I tried them on, but all of the extra fabric is in the back of the shorts, not the front. Wish I could return

I wear a 30 in all Madewell jeans I own, even the mostly cotton ones that you typically size up in. These can be pulled up, and then are about 4-6” away from being able to be buttoned. At final sale, don’t buy them. You’ll be stuck with shorts you only wish you could fit into! They run at least two sizes too small. Disappointed.

I really wanted to love these! My favorite jeans I own are the Perfect Vintage Jeans, so I hoped the shorts would be the same. I am 5'3" and 106 lbs, I have a small waist and wider hips for my size. I wear a 23 in the Perfect Vintage Jeans, but the TrueFIt said I should get a 24 in the shorts. I ordered both to be safe, especially considering they were 100% cotton and my full-length jeans have a small amount of stretch. The 24 were way too loose in the waist (like, inches too big) but the legs were a nice fit. The 23 felt tight going on but fit perfectly in the waist (so probably would have broken in nicely) but I wasn't crazy how it felt in the legs. However, what really did me in was the hem! It didn't look anything like the picture showed and had these weird cut outs and ripped edges that were not the same as the model (I know the edges are raw and distressed, but this was so much more). It looked like a chunk of the shorts was missing, and not in a good way. I returned both pair.

These looked promising in the photos but the pair I got looked liked something had taken big bites out of the hems in the front of the jeans. The back hems were even with normal fraying. I don’t want to sound paranoid but the tag on these was wrapped from the back inside tag through the front belt loops in such a way that if I hadn’t been very careful it would have ripped off easily when I unbuttoned and unzipped them to try them on...if it had ripped I would have been stuck with a pair of rather expensive and unwearable shorts. Returning immediately.
