“Vaguely disreputable romantic” or “thrift store find.”
What sort of things make an outfit “you?”
If you genuinely feel good in something and it imbues you with a certain confidence, then it works for you. I tend to keep to some form of layering; a tank top, button-up, or trench coats. Whatever you want.
Tell us some of your favorite ways to style denim.
Cowboy boots, maybe a mismatching belt or an opened button-up over a tank.
What’s your earliest musical memory? What sparked your interest in music?
My mom often used to listen to Ray Charles, and I loved his music very much. So possibly that. I was also just singing all the time as a child and was involved in choirs.
Let’s talk creative process. What sparks an idea for a new project? Where do you turn to for inspiration?
Whatever has been of natural interest to me, or in the case of the band, us. Recently, the plays of Sam Shepard, the world-building of Tyler, the Creator and the set design of Eiko Ishioka. New friendships with musical heroes, or historical biographies have all fed into new creative concepts.
Why do you think music and fashion are so closely related?
Because musicians in general are sensitive types. Expressing themselves is paramount.
What’s your dream venue to play? Could be in the past, present or future.
The Roman Colosseum. Madison Square Garden, maybe. Mars.
