I adored this dress as soon as I put it on. It’s extremely flattering and the perfect length. HOWEVER. Do not follow the size chart! I am a 27/28 inch waist, 5’4” and 135 pounds, pear/athletic body type and I ordered the 4, my usual size. I was drowning in it. I then returned and got the 2 and it was STILL too big! I just received the 0 (SHOcked) and it fits perfectly. It does gape a little at the deep V- if I wear with a bra I’d have to pin it: I love this so much though that i’ll probably just have a professional sew it!

I tried on and bought this dress in stores. It's a simple black dress with cape sleeves, deep V, a fitted waist, and wrap front. You can't actually wrap the dress, but the skirt isn't connected. Thankfully the skirt overlaps a decent amount, so unless a strong wind blows at your from your left, you're fine. I love the cape sleeves! Puffy sleeves or ballet sleeves draw too much attention to my broad shoulders, but cape sleeves add a certain elegance. The fitted waist and A-line flare of the dress are very flattering! I do have a long torso so the waist hits higher than my actual waist, but that's most dresses for me. No pockets, but this dress doesn't need them. I do think the V is deep. I wish there was some sort of hook there - just half an inch higher of more cover would be better! It almost exposes my bra. However, I think if you're confident in your cleavage, and you're at a function that is okay with exposing cleavage (i.e. not school or work), this is a fantastic dress.

It is a very cute and versatile dress. I got it in black and have worn it to work and out with a casual jacket. Very easy to put on and accessorize. Runs slightly large.

I love this dress! The cape sleeves are flattering and the fabric is sturdy and soft. I look forward to wearing it soon. Unfortunately, I find that madewell clothes are made for taller people (I’m average height - 5’4), and that is true for this dress as well. The neckline is pretty deep, showing more chest than I’d like, so I’ll have to pin it before wearing it out.

I wanted this dress to work so badly! The material drapes nicely, it’s very flattering fit, especially for petite women, however, if you have a larger bust-beware. I could not get the large V- neck to work. If I pinned it it would gape oddly and I’m not a fan of wearing more clothing under dresses for coverage, like a cami. If you’re young, and have a chest, you maybe could pull it off as it’s quite sexy.

I liked this dress a lot. It has a very flattering figure to it and great fabric. However, as a larger busted woman the V was WAY too deep. Pinning it made it look very odd. The appeal of the dress is kind of lost when you have to wear a cami underneath.
