Based in Guatemala, The New Denim Project takes textile
leftovers from mills and upcycles them into brand-new fabric (even their manufacturing waste gets turned into compost for local coffee beans). We teamed up on a feel-good capsule inspired by homespun '70s handwork—this button-front midi skirt mixes stripes with floral print and has a retro ruffled hem.

Amazing Skirt!
Love the pattern, style, and fit of this dress! I'm 4'9" (yes, i'm small;) and it still fits me nicely without having to make any alterations-- which is amazing! Thanks Madewell!

Runs a bit large
I hesitated on this skirt, but then ordered it and realized I loved it. I first ordered this in a size 6 (I am between a size 4-6 and 130#) and found the size 6 to be much too big, I was so happy when I caught the size 4 on a pop back the next day. The style is really fun, it is a bit longer than it shows on the model and I think it is a flattering fit, I am 5'5 and it hits in just the right spot on the calf. It looks cute with converse and with espadrilles and I will wear this often this summer. I always read the reviews before ordering and so that is why I wanted to write one to share that this runs a bit big in the waist here. Overall, a great skirt if you get the right size.

Cute and comfy
I LOVE this skirt. It's the second one I own from MW. I've gotten so many compliments and it's the perfect "no shorts" option for someone like me who hates shorts :)

Fun and cute!
I like this skirt a lot, and I like that you can pair it with a lot of different colored tops. It’s fun and different and I like the length. I am 5’6” 150lb and I got a size 10. It fits really nicely, and I got compliments on it which is always a good sign!

Love this skirt
I absolutely love this skirt, the color and pattern are a nice change from my normally uniform outfits. The waist band does stretch a bit, and I may have wished i had gotten a smaller size after trying it on in store since it does have some give after 2 wears. Overall I am very happy with it and am considering buying the same skirt in mustard.

70's vibe, real cotton
I think I had this skirt in high school. The cotton has a dry hand, and slight slub. Yay for pockets! The fabric patterns are calico and ticking, and the color combo has a prairie style 70's patchwork feel. It is 32" long, which is between midi and ankle on my 5'5" frame. The two-tone ruffled the bottom makes it a challenge to shorten.

Springy skirt
Well-made, comfortable, and mostly flattering. I’m 5’2” so it’s probably a little too long on me, almost reaching my ankles. Nice to have pockets. It’s not denim, more like a sturdy cotton. The only con really is that the placket doesn’t fall perfectly flat at the top—the fabric buckles out a little so the stripes don’t align and it creates an illusion of extra belly.
