I've never loved a pair of shorts more! I've looked for years for shorts that check all the boxes, and they've been impossible to find until the Emmett shorts. Please, please, please produce these as a staple for years to come, Madewell! The fit is incredibly flattering. They hit at the PERFECT place on my leg: hiding the unattractive upper part of my inner thigh and elegantly covering my butt while still being chicly short enough not to look matronly. The fabric is comfortable while still having enough structure to provide tummy control. I'm 5'2", 120 lbs, waist 28", hips 38.5", and the 27 is perfect. I ordered these in the Safari Khaki and the Heritage Khaki. I'll be keeping both colors, but the Safari Khaki is my favorite of the two.

These came today and I am absolutely thrilled and about to buy in another color. I have been on the hunt for shorts and these are the best I've found so far! I am mid-30's and mom to a 9 month old so I wanted something still chic and not frumpy but also with a bit of length. I have a booty but otherwise petite so shorts are tough in general. But these really fit the bill! The fabric is so great, thick and structured but with some stretch too. Great length without being old lady, and the leg openings are so flattering. 10/10 no notes. I did go for a 28 when I am usually a 27 in their jeans, it's possible 27 would have worked but I just did not want them to be tight-fitted. 5'7", 135ish lbs
